Irish Slow Air entitled: Ar Éirinn Ní Neosfhainn Cé hÍ

Ireland, though a small island, is blessed with a cultural wealth of art, customs and traditions, film, folklore, language, literature, music, national sports and, in later decades, its world-famous bars! Yet, Irish civilization can trace its origins back to the very beginnings of human settlements.

The best-known aspects of Irish culture are its traditional music & dance and its literature, perhaps ironically, written in the English language. The Cork Writers’ School will take you on a time-travelling journey through our literature of the last two hundred years.
The traditional air you are listening to as you read this, still regularly played and enjoyed by the people of Cork, is believed to have been composed in the Dingle Peninsula over two hundred years ago. In this country, the past reaches out to the present, as naturally and immediately as this haunting music.
